TOPEKA -- Kaylee Burnett fired a one hitter to help lead the Pittsburg State University softball team to a 1-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Crookston on day two action of the Washburn University Invitational Saturday (Feb. 29).
Burnett fanned four batters and retired the final 13 UMC batters after allowing a third inning double. Kylee Bohle singled and scored the game's only run on a throwing error in the second inning.
Earlier in the day, the Gorillas (7-15) dropped a 4-1 decision to the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Pitt State will close out the three-day tournament with a 9 a.m. game against the University of Sioux Falls and a 3 p.m. game against Rockhurst University Sunday (Mar. 1).
