Gorillas to Host Cardinals In Non-Conference Action Tuesday


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will host William Jewell College in a non-conference game at 3 p.m. (CST) Tuesday (Mar. 3) at Al Ortolani Field.

The Gorillas are 10-7 on the season after taking two of three games in a weekend series against Fort Hays State University. The Cardinals bring a 7-3 record into Tuesday's action after sweeping a four-game series from Bemidji State University last weekend.

Pitt State is batting .297 on the season and scoring 7.5 runs per game. Senior infielder Tyson Cushman and junior outfielder Blain Ohlmeier share the team lead with .341 batting averages. Senior designated hitter Reece Garvie also is batting .339 with 14 runs scored, three home runs and 18 RBIs.

On the mound, the Gorillas sport a 5.90 ERA with the Pitt State pitching staff combining for 142 strikeouts in 145.0 innings of work.
