TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State University baseball team broke open a 2-1 game with a three-run seventh inning to pull away for an eventual 5-3 victory over Pittsburg State University Friday (Mar. 6) at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks improved to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play after taking the opening game of the series against the Gorillas (11-8, 2-2 MIAA). The two teams will resume their three-game series at 2 p.m. (CST) Saturday.
David Henderson (2-3) took the loss for Pitt State. He limited NSU to three hits over 6.0 innings of work and registered seven strikeouts. Reece Garvie collected two of the Gorillas' four hits in the contest. Chaz Burgess went 1-for-2 with a walk and scored two runs.
