TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Dawson Pomeroy belted a leadoff home run in the top of the 10th inning to help propel the Pittsburg State University baseball team to an 8-7 victory over Northeastern State University Saturday (Mar. 7) at Rousey Field.
Pomeroy (1-0) also worked two scoreless innings of relief on the mound to earn the victory for the Gorillas (12-8, 3-2 MIAA). He allowed one hit and one walk while registering four strikeouts to help cool the NSU (9-9, 3-2 MIAA) bats down the stretch. Nick Brown got the final out of the game to earn his first save of the season.
Ryan Koval led the Pitt State offense, going 3-for-5 with a two-run home run. Mason Hartman also collected two hits in the contest.
The Gorillas and the RiverHawks will wrap up their three-game MIAA series with a final game at 2 p.m. Sunday (Mar. 8).
