Gorillas Roll to 80-50 Home Win Over Bearcats


PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team shot 56.1 percent from the field as the Gorillas rolled to an 80-50 victory over Northwest Missouri State University Saturday (Jan. 2) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Tristan Gegg led four Pitt State players in double figures with 15 points. Julia Johnson added a career high 13 points, while Kaylee DaMitz added 12 points and seven assists. Maya Williams also chipped in with 11 points.

Pitt State (5-3, 5-3 MIAA) led 19-15 after one quarter of play and extended its margin to 47-34 at the break. The Gorillas outscored the Bearcats (3-3, 3-3 MIAA), 21-8, in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Erin Davis added nine points for the Gorillas in the game, while Ashton McCorry finished with seven points.

Northwest got 12 points apiece from Mallory McConkey and Kylie Coleman.

Pitt State will return to action next Saturday (Jan. 9) when the Gorillas host MIAA rival Missouri Southern State University at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
