Gegg's Career High Lifts Gorillas Over Bison

Weatherford, Okla – The Pittsburg State University women's basketball team opened the 2021-2022 regular season with a 62-53 win over Oklahoma Baptist University.
 
A slow start for the Gorillas in the first quarter allowed the Bison to take a 4-0 lead early in the game. The first Gorilla basket would come at the six minute mark by senior guard Sydnee Crain. That basket would spark a Gorilla scoring spree to take a 10-7 lead after the first quarter.
 
The Bison would turn on the offense in the second quarter shooting 7-13 (53.85%) from the field to take a 24-19 lead into the half.
 
Out of halftime senior guard Tristan Gegg would begin to heat up draining four three pointers in the third quarter to give the Gorillas the lead back after three, 36-33.
 
Gegg would continue the scoring into the fourth quarter scoring 18 points in the final 10 minutes of play. The Gorillas would ride the scoring to a 62-53 win
 
Gegg would finish the night with 36 points a career high and places here third in points in a game in Pitt State history. The Altamont, Kan. native ended up shooting 10-20 (50%) from the field and 7-15 (46.6%) from beyond the arc. She also grabbed four rebounds and put up two assists.
 
The Gorillas return to action against Southwestern Oklahoma tomorrow (Nov. 13) at 3 p.m. (CST).
