Pitt State Women Claim 74-56 Home Win


PITTSBURG — Tristan Gegg scored 18 of her game high 22 points in the second half to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 74-56 victory over Lindenwood University Wednesday (Nov. 24) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Gegg made eight of 13 shots from the field as Pitt State (3-1) shot 56.7 percent from the field (17-30) in the second half against LWU (0-4).

Sydnee Crain filled her stat line with 11 points as well as seven rebounds, six assists and five steals, all three team high totals. Erin Davis also chipped in with 11 points, including eight in the first half as the Gorillas to a 30-23 lead to the intermission. Jayme Jackson also finished the game in double figures with 10 points.

The Lions got a team-leading 15 points from Ellen McCorkle and 12 points from Hennessey Handy. LWU shot just 34.5 percent (20-58) from the floor in the contest and the Lions were victimized by 23 team turnovers.

Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Nov. 27) when the Gorillas play host to Missouri University of Science & Technology at 1:30 p.m. (CST).
