Gorillas to Open 2021 Season at Home Monday


PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will open its 2021 season Monday (Feb. 22) at Al Ortolani Field with the first of three consecutive days of home games. The Gorillas will meet MIAA rival Missouri Western State University in a non-conference game at 3 p.m. (CST).

Pitt State originally was scheduled to play three days of home games beginning Friday (Feb. 19), but inclement weather pushed back the contests by three days.

Following the Gorillas' Monday game against Missouri Western, Pitt State will host Northwest Missouri State University at 2 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 23) and Minot State University at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 24). On Friday and Saturday, NWMSU and Minot State also wll play one another at 11 a.m. each day, prior to the Gorillas' contests.

Pitt State posted a 14-8 record in 2020 before the season came to a premature end due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
