PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will host MIAA rival Emporia State University in a non-conference match-up Tuesday (Mar. 30) at Al Ortolani Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. (CDT).
Pitt State is 12-6 on the season after taking two of three games against the University of Central Oklahoma last weekend at Edmond, Okla. The Gorillas sit in fourth place in the MIAA standings with a 9-6 mark in league play.
Emporia State is 7-13 overall and 4-11Â in the MIAA. The Hornets have dropped seven of their last eight games.
As a team, Pitt State is batting .292 and scoring 8.7 runs per game, while the Gorillas pitching staff sports a 5.18 ERA. Pitt State leads the MIAA in runs scored. ESU is batting .282 and scoring 6.2 runs per game. The Hornets pitching staff has a 6.08 ERA.
Junior RHP Jarret Dotson (1-1, 6.97 ERA) is expected to start on the mound for the Gorillas Tuesday.
