PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Topeka Tuesday (Apr. 6) to face Washburn University in a non-conference game. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. (CDT) at Falley Field.
Pitt State is 15-7 overall and 12-6 in MIAA play after sweeping a three-game MIAA series from Rogers State University last weekend at Claremore, Okla. The Gorillas defeated the Hillcats, 3-1, 4-3 and 2-0 in the competitive series.
Washburn comes into Tuesday's non-conference tilt at 8-15 overall and 7-13 in MIAA play. The Ichabods, who took two of three MIAA games from the Gorillas earlier this year, posted a 1-2 record last weekend against the University of Central Oklahoma.
Pitt State enters Tuesday's action batting .290 and scoring 7.9 runs per game. The Gorillas pitching staff sports a 4.73 ERA. Pitt State ranks third in the conference in runs per game and second in the league in ERA.
