PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will open a three-game MIAA series Friday (Apr. 9) at 6 p.m. (CDT) against the University of Central Missouri. The Gorillas and the Mules will wrap up the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (Apr. 10).
The Gorillas enter the series with a 16-7 overall record and a 12-6 mark in MIAA play. Pitt State is tied for third place in the conference standings. The Mules are 21-4 overall and 17-1 in the MIAA. UCM is alone in first place in the conference standings.
Pitt State is batting .295 as a team and scoring 8.0 runs per game. The Gorillas pitching staff has a 4.57 ERA. Pitt State ranks third in the league in runs scored and second in the conference in ERA. UCM leads the MIAA in batting average (.336), runs scored (9.2 pg) and ERA (4.42).
