PITTSBURG -- Karenna Gerber scored a career best 19 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to an 82-56 victory over Emporia State University Thursday (Jan. 13) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The Gorillas jumped out to a 23-15 first quarter lead and stretched their margin to 46-29 at the break. Pitt State (10-5, 5-4 MIAA) shot 48.4 percent from the field in the game, converting 30 of 62 shots overall.
Gerber posted a double double with 19 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Tristan Gegg added 17 points, while Erin Davis (12) and Sydnee Crain (10) also finished in double figures. Crane added a game high eight assists as the Gorillas dished out 25 helpers in the contest.
Tre'Zure Jobe was the only Lady Hornet player to reach double figures with a team-leading 12 points. ESU (9-6, 4-5 MIAA) shot 35.8 percent from the field in the contest.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Jan. 15) when they play host to MIAA rival Washburn University at 1:30 p.m.
