PITTSBURG -- Jayme Jackson hit a contested driving basket just ahead of the final buzzer to lift the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 71-69 victory over Northeastern State University Thursday (Jan. 27) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Tristan Gegg paced the Gorillas (12-7, 7-6 MIAA) with 24 points, but Pitt State couldn't pull away from the pesky RiverHawks (4-14, 2-10 MIAA).Â
NSU's Ashton Hackler hit a 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the score and set up Jackson's dramatics.Â
Jackson added 11 points and five assists for the Gorillas, while Karenna Gerber chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Maleeah Langstaff posted a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead NSU. Hackler (12) and Morgan Lee (11) also scored in double figures.
Pitt State will host Rogers State University in its next action Saturday (Jan. 29) at 1:30 P.M.
