PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University football team jumped out to a 28-3 halftime advantage and never looked back in rolling to a 38-9 victory over Missouri Southern State University Saturday (Oct. 1) at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium.

Chad Dodson Jr. passed for 201 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth score in the contest to help the No. 10 ranked Gorillas (5-0, 5-0 MIAA) stay unbeaten. The Pitt State defense limited MSSU (3-2, 3-2 MIAA0 to 76 rushing yards on 31 attempts and just 241 total yards in the game.

Caleb Lewis carried the ball 23 times for a game high 84 yards. Defensive lineman Zeke Wall scored his first collegiate touchdown on a one-yard plunge in the contest.

Christian Carter, Jack Roberts and Dallas Bond all snared touchdown passes from Dodson. Devon Garrison made four receptions for a team-leading 51 yards for the Gorillas.

Morgan Selemaea posted nine tackles (six solo) and a forced fumble, while P.J. Sarwinski added five stops, including a quarterback sack, and a pass breakup. Dubem Okonkwo added 1.5 quarterback sacks.

The Gorillas will return to action next Saturday (Oct. 8) by hosting No. 12 ranked Northwest Missouri State University at 2 p.m. (CDT). The Bearcats posted a 16-3 win over Missouri Western State University Saturday.
