Biography

General: Fifth-year player… a hard working safety who is expected to battle for significant action for the Gorillas in the secondary again this fall.

In 2019-21: Saw action in nine games in 2021… posted four tackles (two solo) on the season… missed the 2020 season due to injury… saw action in all 11 games in 2019… made 18 tackles (10 solo), one interception and one pass breakup… also forced a fumble and blocked a kick.

In 2017-18: Did not see any action in 2018 after redshirting in his initial season in the Pitt State program (2017).

In High School: A Kansas Class 4A-I All-State performer as a defensive back as a senior at Atchison High School in 2016… made 49 tackles, 7.0 tackles-for-loss and one interception his senior season… compiled 223 career tackles with seven interceptions… a 2017 Kansas Shrine Bowl participant.

Personal: Born August 15, 1998… son of Jim and Jennifer Smith… a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll… has a 3.11 GPA as an environmental and safety management major.
