TOPEKA, KAN. – The Pittsburg State University volleyball team fell to the No. 14 Ichabods of Washburn University, 3-0, Wednesday (Oct.26) evening at Lee Arena.

The Ichabods got off to a quick start, leading set one at one point, 20-9. The Gorillas comeback attempt fell short as the Ichabods took the first set by a score of 25-18. Set two as well went to the Ichabods by a score of 25-18. In the third set, the Ichabods won 25-15 to complete the 3-0 sweep.Â

Middle Blocker Phoenix Bailey had five blocks on the evening for the Gorillas. Libero Marissa Bates contributed 23 digs. Outside Hitter Meg Auten led the Gorillas in kills with nine on the evening. Setter Bre Richard added 24 assists.

The Gorillas are back in action Thursday (Oct.27) as they travel to Emporia, Kan., to take on the Hornets of Emporia State at White Auditorium. The first serve is at 6 p.m. (CDT).
