PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University volleyball team fell to the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney Friday (Oct. 7) evening 3-0.
The Lopers took the first set of the evening by a score of 25-18. In the second set, the Gorillas and the Lopers went back and forth, with the result ending in the favor of UNK 25-23. The Lopers finished the job on the evening, taking set three by a score of 25-20.
Jayden Sanford led the offensive attack for the Gorillas with 12 kills and a .308 hitting percentage. Brianna Richard had 37 assists on the evening for the Gorillas. Freshman Josie McCroskey led the Gorillas on the defensive end with 11 digs. Junior Outside Hitter Janae Thurston had 11 kills on the evening.
The Gorillas are back in action Saturday (Oct. 8) as they host the Tigers of Fort Hays State University. The first serve is set for 6 p.m. (CDT) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
