KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Connor Dillon scored a game-high 21 points to help lead the Winona State University men's basketball team to a 60-50 victory over Pittsburg State University in the season opener for both squads Friday (Nov. 11).

Pitt State (0-1) got 13 points from R.J. Forney Jr. and 10 points apiece from Albert McBride and Deshaun English II. English posted a double double by adding a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Gorillas trailed 28-19 at halftime and never overcame a slow start as Pitt State shot just 29.3 percent from the field in the contest (17 of 58). The Gorillas knocked down 11 3-point field goals in the game.

The Warriors converted 34.5 percent of their shots (20 of 58). WSU made nine 3-pointers and outscored Pitt State, 11-5, at the free throw line.

Pitt State will wrap up play in the Central Region Challenge by taking on the University of Sioux Falls at 1 p.m. (CST) Sunday (Nov. 13) at Municipal Auditorium.
