TOPEKA — Grace Pyle made two free throws with 18 seconds left to help the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team seal a 69-66 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the Washburn Crossover Classic Saturday (Nov. 12) at Lee Arena.

Pyle scored a team-leading 17 points to pace the Gorillas (2-0). Karenna Gerber added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the contest, while Erin Davis finished with 13 points.

Pitt State shot just 31 percent from the floor in the game, making 22 of 71 attempts, but the Gorillas knocked down 17 of 18 free throws to help hold off the Lady Bulldogs (0-2) down the stretch.

Morgan Smith of SWOSU led all scorers with 19 points.

Pitt State will return to action next Friday (Nov. 18) when the Gorillas return to Topeka to take part in the Washburn Classic.
