Pitt State Women Roll in Home Debut

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University women's basketball used a balanced attack to claim a convincing 95-63 victory over the University of Saint Mary in the Gorillas home debut Wednesday (Nov. 23). Four Pitt State players scored in double figures in the contest. Karenna Gerber posted game highs of 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Jenna Shipley added a career high 20 points. Grace Pyle contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, knocking down four of five 3-point field goal attempts. Tristan Gegg also finished in double figures with 13 points. The Gorillas (4-1) shot 51.4 percent from the field in the game, making 37 of 72 shots from the floor. Pitt State led 48-36 at the half and the Gorillas pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring the Spires, 28-16, in the third period. Pitt State will return to action next Monday (Nov. 28) when the Gorillas open MIAA play by hosting Lincoln University.
