Claremore, Okla. – The Pittsburg State University softball team dropped a pair of games to Rogers State University, 3-2, 4-3.
The Gorillas would get off to a hot start in game one taking an early 2-1 lead over the No. 4 ranked Hillcats. The Hillcats would answer back in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at two a piece. The Gorillas and Hillcats would head into extra innings still tied at two. Rogers would score in the bottom of the eighth off of a double by Chelsea Spain to win the game 3-2.
Abby Atkins would go four and 2/3 innings allowing three hits and two runs.
In game two of the day the Gorillas would fall behind early 3-1 after the second inning. Pitt State would fight back to within one after six innings of play. The Hillcats would hold off the Gorillas for a 4-3 win.Â
Taylor Compton would go four and 2/3 innings allowing three hits and one run.
Pitt State will return to action tomorrow (Mar. 26) to take on Northeastern State University starting at 1 p.m.
