Topeka – The Washburn University softball team took a doubleheader victory over Pittsburg State University, 5-0, 12-6 Saturday (Apr. 16).
The Ichabods would start out the day by holding the Gorillas to five hits in game one. The Ichabods would take its first lead of the game with two runs in the third. Washburn would score three more runs in the fourth to take the game with a final score of 5-0.Â
Abby Atkins would go three and 2/3 innings allowing eight hits and five earned runs in the loss.
Pitt State would end the scoreless streak with two runs in the top of the first to lead off game two. Washburn would answer back with six runs in the second inning to take the lead back 7-2. The Ichabods would hold onto the lead until the end taking the game 12-6.
Kianna Pellegrino would go 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two. Atkins was credited with the loss moving her season record to 7-11.
