St. Joseph, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University softball team would fall twice to Missouri Western State University Friday (Apr. 22).

The griffons would get things started in the third inning in game one with two runs off of a single from Emma Hoffart to take the lead 2-0. Pitt State would fight back with one run i the top of the fourth off of a Kianna Pelelgrino home run to left field. Mo. West would hold off the Gorillas to take the game 2-1.

In game two of the doubleheader with the Griffons the Gorillas would start off the game hot scoring three runs in the top of the first to take the lead 3-0. The hot hitting Griffons would answer quickly with six runs of its own in the bottom of the first. Adding another five runs in the second to take an early 11-3 lead. The Griffons would go onto win the game 12-3.

Pellegrino would go 3-for-6 on the day including a home run and two RBIs. Paxtyn Hayes would go 3-for-5 on the day.

The Gorillas return to action tomorrow (Apr. 23) to take on Northwest Missouri State University starting at 11 a.m.
