Gorilla Softball Falls to NWMSU

Maryville, Mo. – The Pittsburg State University softball team would drop a pair of games against Northwest Missouri State University Saturday (Apr. 23) in its final road matchup of the 2022 season.

In game one of the doubleheader the Bearcats would get out to an early 8-0 lead after two innings of play. The Gorillas would score its first run in the top of the third. The Bearcats would answer answer with three more runs to take the game 11-1 in five innings of play.

In game two the against the Bearcats the Gorillas would find its self up 4-2 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. After two quick outs by the Gorillas the Bearcats would load the bases for Olivia Daugherty to come to the plate. Daugherty would add a run for the Bearcats off of a RBI single. Next up for the Bearcats was Abby Nolte who would blast a two RBI double to give Northwest the win 5-4.

Pitt State will return to action on Friday (Apr. 29) to take on the University of Central Oklahoma in Pittsburg.
