PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University softball team would split a doubleheader against the University of Central Oklahoma on senior night, Saturday (Apr. 30).
The Gorillas would blast four home runs on its way to a 11-7 victory over UCO in game one of the doubleheader. Paxtyn Hayes would launch two long balls herself as well as two singles to go 4-for-4 in the game. Keelah Griffith and Gabby Schultz would each lauch a home run in game one as well.
Abby Atkins would go four and 1/3 innings and would get credit for the win moving her season record to 8-13.
In game two the Bronchos would flip the script on the Gorillas launching two home runs of its own on the way to a 11-1 victory for Central Oklahoma. Sophia Driver would go 2-for-3 for Pitt State in game two of the day.
Madison Morris would go three and 2/3 innings and would allow seven hits and five runs. After the loss Morris moved her season record to 2-3.
Pitt State will be back in action tomorrow (May 1) to round out the 2022 season against Newman University.
