PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State Volleyball team beat Emporia State Friday (Sept. 30) evening in John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court 3-0.
The Gorillas battled with the Hornets in the first set with the Gorillas taking it 27-25 after a Jayden Sanford Service ace to end it. In set number two, the Gorillas won 25-22 behind six assists from Sophomore setter Jadyn Jackson. In the third set, the gorillas took advantage of a few Hornet Errors taking the set 25-18 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Sophomore Phoenix Bailey and Outside Hitter led the way offensively for the Gorillas with nine kills. Bailey totaled with a .412 hitting percentage along with two and a half blocks. Graduate Brianna Richard had 15 assists for the Gorillas, while sophomore setter Jadyn Jackson set a career-high 14 assists. Outside Hitter Jayden Sanford led on the defensive end with 14 digs.
The Gorillas are back in action Saturday (Oct. 1) evening as they host the No.8 Washburn Ichabods in John Lance Arena/ Whetzel Court. First Set is at 6 p.m. (CDT).
