PITTSBURG — Tristan Gegg paced a balanced offensive attack with 22 points as the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team streaked to its sixth straight victory, 83-75, over the University of Central Oklahoma Thursday (Jan. 26).
Gegg hit five of the Gorillas 10 3-point field goals in the contest and seven of 12 shots overall. Grace Pyle added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Karenna Gerber finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Harper Schreiner also scored in double figures with 10 points.
Pitt State (16-4, 11-3 MIAA) shot just 36.9 percent from the field (24-65), but the Gorillas outscored the Lady Bronchos (7-11, 4-10 MIAA), 25-9, at the free throw line as UCO was whistled for 28 personal fouls in the contest.
Aliyah Llanusa led all scorers with 24 points for the Lady Bronchos, while Aspen Williston added 22 points before fouling out of the game midway through the fourth quarter.
Pitt State will return to John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court Saturday (Jan. 28) for matinee action against Newman University. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. (CST).
