PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team rallied from a 10-6 deficit in the deciding fifth set to surge past William Jewell College Tuesday (Oct. 31). The Gorillas topped the visiting Cardinals 22-25, 25-19, 25-23, 16-25, 17-15.
Jayden Sanford posted the last of her match high 20 kills to knot the score at 15-15 and William Jewell (10-16) committed attack errors in each of the final two points to seal the win for Pitt State (9-16).
Ivy Fink added 19 kills with .378 attack percentage and 18 digs in the match, while setter Jaydn Jackson chipped in with seven kills, 56 assists and 15 digs. Libero Josie McCroskey added a match high 21 digs.
Kate Bandre (11) and Avery DeLong (10) also finished in double figures in kills.
The Gorillas will travel to Emporia, Kan., Friday (Nov. 3) to battle MIAA rival Emporia State University at W.L. White Auditorium.
