PITTSBURG — The Fort Hays State University men's basketball team built a 20-point halftime lead and pulled away for a 71-49 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Feb. 16) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Kaleb Hammeke scored a game-high 19 points to pace the Tigers (18-8, ), while Elijah Hhanabu (13) and Bjarni Jonsson (11) also finished in double figures. FHSU finished the game shooting 50.9 percent from the field (28-55).
Tane Prictor scored a team-leading nine points for Pitt State (6-19, 3-16 MIAA), while R.J. Forney Jr. and Quentin Hardrict Jr. added eight points apiece.
The Gorillas will close out a three-game home stand by hosting the University of Nebraska-Kearney for Senior Day Saturday (Feb. 18) at 3:30 p.m. (CST).
