EMPORIA, Kan. — Harper Schreiner scored a team-leading 17 points to help lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 70-60 road win over Emporia State University Thursday (Feb. 23).

The Gorillas (21-6, 16-5 MIAA) swept the season series against the Lady Hornets (13-14, 8-13 MIAA) with the win.

Pitt State jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and the Gorillas took a 39-25 advantage to the halftime break. Pitt State stretched its margin to 25 points, 52-27, midway through the third period before coasting to the 10-point win.

Karenna Gerber added 16 points for the Gorillas, while Tristan Gegg finished with 12 points. Grace Pyle added eight points and a team-leading 10 rebounds. Schreiner dished out six assists.

Tre'Zure Jobe scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lady Hornets.

Pitt State will wrap up the regular season schedule with a 1:30 p.m. road match-up Saturday (Feb. 25) against Missouri Western State University.
