PITTSBURG — The Missouri Southern State University baseball team won a slugfest against Pittsburg State University, 20-16, Saturday (Feb. 25) at Al Ortolani Field.

The Lions (10-5, 1-1 MIAA) scored three or more runs in five different innings and swatted eight home runs in the contest.

Matt Miller led MSSU's 19-hit attack, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored, a home run and two RBI. Nate Mieszkowski came up a double short of hitting the cycle, driving in five runs. Garrett Rice and Treghan Parker each homered twice for the Lions.

Brett Daley, tripled, belted a grandslam and drove in eight runs for Pitt State (9-5, 1-1 MIAA). Karson Coffee homered twice and collected three RBI, while Trey McClelland went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI.

Cale McCallister (3-0) earned the win for the Lions, while Tanner Leslie (2-1) was charged with the loss for Pitt State.

The Gorillas and Lions will wrap up the three-game series with a final game Sunday at Noon.
