JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — All five members of the Lincoln University men's basketball team scored in double figures as the Blue Tigers pulled away for a 90-71 win over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Feb. 4) at Jason Gym.
Artese Stapleton and Sai Witt paced LU with 17 points apiece. Kevin Kone added a double-double effort with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Sam Rautins (15) and D.J. Richardson (10) also finished in double figures.
The Blue Tigers (15-5, 11-5 MIAA) shot 50.8 percent from the field (31-61) and made 18 of 21 free throw attempts in the game.
Pitt State (6-17, 3-14 MIAA) got a team-leading 15 points from Quentin Hardrict Jr., 14 points from Deshaun English II and 12 points from Calvin Poulina. English and Poulina led the Gorillas with six rebounds apiece.
Pitt State shot 57.1 percent from the field in the game (24-42), including 67 percent (14-21) in the first half. LU outrebounded the Gorillas, 32-21, and the Blue Tigers forced Pitt State into 16 turnovers while committing just six themselves.
The Gorillas will return to action next Saturday (Feb. 11) when they play host to MIAA rival Missouri Southern State University at 3:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
