PITTSBURG — Jacob Selock delivered a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Northwest Missouri State University baseball team to a 3-1 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Mar. 11) at Al Ortolani Field.

The Gorillas (13-7, 5-3 MIAA) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but Pitt State couldn't build on its early lead. The Gorillas generated seven hits, but stranded nine base runners in the contest.

The Bearcats (4-15, 2-6 MIAA) tied the game at 1-1 on D.J. Heck's squeeze bunt that scored Cole Slibowski from third base.

Paul Panduro (2-2) took the loss for the Gorillas allowing two runs in 2.2 innings of relief. Tanner Leslie pitched 5.1 innings, limiting the Bearcats to three hits and one unearned run while fanning four batters.

Karson Coffee scored Pitt State's lone run on Connor Allen's RBI grounder. Coffee and Daegan Brady had two hits apiece for the Gorillas.

Pitt State and NWMSU will wrap up the three-game series at 1 p.m. (CDT) Sunday. The game originally was scheduled for a Noon start but has been pushed back an hour following Saturday's late contest.
