PITTSBURG — Ben Des Rosiers pitched 5.0 solid innings and four Pittsburg State University relievers combined to blank Northwest Missouri State University over the final four frames to help the Gorillas defeat the Bearcats, 4-1, Sunday (Mar. 12).

The win helped Pitt State (14-7, 6-3 MIAA) take two of three games in the series against NWMSU (4-16, 2-7 MIAA).

Brevon Lee and Austin Warkins had three hits apiece to pace the Gorillas offense. Lee hit an RBI triple in Pitt State's two-run second inning. Nixon Brannan had an RBI grounder in the fifth and Cade Clemons smacked a solo home run in the sixth.

Des Rosiers (3-0) allowed just one run and three hits in 5.0 innings of work. He walked three batters and registered seven strikeouts. Parker Tennill, Parker Weddle, Andrew Wisner and Dawson Pomeroy held NWMSU at bay the rest of the way.

Pomeroy got the final two outs to record his second save of the season after the Bearcats placed two runners on base in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Pitt State will return to action Tuesday (Mar. 14) with a 5 p.m. (CDT) home game against Emporia State University at Al Ortolani Field.
