EDMOND, Okla. -- The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team jumped out to an 8-0 lead four innings into the contest and rode that momentum to a 10-6 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Apr. 1) at Wendell Simmons Field.
The Gorillas and Bronchos will wrap up their three-game series with a 1 p.m. (CDT) contest Sunday (Apr. 2).
UCO starter Caleb Burchfield limited Pitt State (22-10, 14-5 MIAA) to one run and six hits through 5.2 innings of work. The Gorillas placed five runs on two hits in the top of the ninth after falling behind 10-1 in the contest.
Nixon Brannan went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Pitt State offense, while Brett Daley tripled and drove in three runs.
