Lady Tigers Tame Gorillas Twice in Twinbill

HAYS, Kan. – The Pittsburg State University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Fort Hays State University Saturday (Apr. 1) at Fleharty Family Field as the Lady Tigers topped the Gorillas, 3-0 and 3-2.

Game One
The Lady Tigers limited the Gorillas to four hits in the 3-0 decision. Taylor Lambert accounted for two of Pitt State's hits, while Heather Arnettt and Gabby Schultz added a hit apiece. FHSU struck first in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single from Madison Pierce. The Lady Tigers tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth to give pitcher Savannah Egger (11-4) all the cushion she needed in the contest. Hannah Harrison (10-4) took the loss for the Gorillas.

Game Two
Regan Curry's RBI double in the bottom of the third inning proved to be the difference as she broke a 2-2 tie with the extra-base hit, lifting FHSU to the 3-2 win. The Gorillas got a run scoring single from Arnett and a sacrifice fly from Paxtyn Hayes to plate their runs.

Pitt State (21-11, 6-4 MIAA) will travel to Kearney, Neb., Sunday (Apr. 2) to battle Nebraska-Kearney in an MIAA twinbill starting at 1 p.m. (CDT).
