PITTSBURG -- The University of Central Missouri baseball team posted a 9-5 victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Apr. 15) to even the best of three-game series.
The Mules (29-11, 20-6 MIAA) used a three-run fifth inning to break open a 1-1 game and gain separation from the Gorillas (28-12, 19-7 MIAA). UCM added five more runs over the final three innings to take control. Pitt State trimmed the final margin to four runs thanks to ninth inning home runs by Jake Grauberger and Austin Warkins.
Cade Clemons also smacked a solo home run in the fourth inning for the Gorillas and drove in another run with an RBI single in the eighth. Boston Dowd (1-1) took the loss in relief for Pitt State.
The Gorillas and Mules will wrap up the series with a Noon game Sunday (Apr. 16).
