Hillcats Rally to Upend Gorillas in Extra Innings

Box Score CLAREMORE, Okla. — The Rogers State University baseball team scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings and three more runs in the 10th to claim a 10-9 victory over Pittsburg State University Thursday (Apr. 6).
 
The Gorillas (24-11, 15-6 MIAA) led 7-3 after scoring five runs in the top of the fifth, but Pitt State couldn't hold off the Hillcats (22-12, 10-11 MIAA) down the stretch.
 
Jake Grauberger went 4-for-6 with a double and two runs scored for the Gorillas. Karson Coffee smacked a home run and drove in three runs, while Nixon Brannan had two hits, including a double, in the contest.
 
Dawson Pomeroy (0-1), the sixth of seven pitchers used on the day by the Gorillas, was charged with the loss.
 
Pitt State and RSU will resume the three-game MIAA series with a 2 p.m. (CDT) contest Friday at the Diamond Sports Complex.
