CLAREMORE, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University baseball team scored 11 runs in the final five innings of play to claim a 14-10 victory over Rogers State University Friday (Apr. 7) at the Diamond Sports Complex.
The Gorillas trailed 9-4 before plating five runs in the sixth inning. Pitt State (25-11, 16-6 MIAA) added two runs in the seventh, a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth to build a 14-9 cushion against the Hillcats (22-13, 10-12 MIAA).
Nixon Brannan doubled and homered among his four hits and drove in four runs in the contest. Cade Clemons also belted a home run and posted four RBI, while Austin Warkins went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Ryan Koval also collected three hits as Pitt State pounded out 16 hits in the contest.
Boston Dowd (1-0) picked up his first win by tossign 3.1 innings of shutout relief work. He allowed three hits and registered four strikeouts.
Pitt State and RSU will close out the series with a 1 p.m. (CDT) game Saturday.
