Gorillas Take Series With 8-4 Win Over Hillcats

Box Score CLAREMORE, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to break open a one-run game and pull away for an 8-4 victory over Rogers State University Saturday (Apr. 8) at the Diamond Sports Complex. The win allowed the Gorillas to take two of three games in the MIAA series from the host Hillcats.

Karson Coffee and Jake Grauberger drove in three runs apiece in the contest. Grauberger doubled and homered while going 2-for-3 at the plate. Nixon Brannan doubled and scored a pair of runs while Daegan Brady had a triple among his two hits at the plate.

Ben Des Rosiers (6-0) pitched into the sixth inning to remain unbeaten on the season. He fanned five batters in 5.1 innings of work. Maverick Hanna and Parker Weddle combined for 3.2 innings of hitless relief for the  Gorillas (26-11, 17-6 MIAA).

Pitt State will host MIAA rival Emporia State University in its next action Tuesday (Apr. 11) at 5 p.m. (CDT) at Al Ortolani Field.
