PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University women's volleyball team pushed the University of Central Missouri before falling in four sets Saturday (Sept. 30) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court. The Jennies defeated the Gorillas 25-12, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22.
UCM (9-5, 6-0 MIAA) remains alone atop the MIAA standings with the victory over Pitt State (6-9, 2-5 MIAA).
Avery DeLong led the Gorillas with nine kills in the match, while Janae Thurston added seven kills and 10 digs. Thurston, who transferred to Pitt State in 2022 after two years at the University of Arkansas Little Rock, recorded her 1,000th career kill in the third set.
Josie McCroskey added 23 digs and Jadyn Jackson posted 28 assists in the match for the Gorillas.
Rachel Ziesman (17) and Elinor Engel (14) combined for 31 kills for the Jennies.
