PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team rushed out to a 23-point first half lead and rode that momentum to a 90-76 victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney Thursday (Jan. 11) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Jordan Frison led five Pitt State players in double figures with 17 points. Frison made seven of 10 shots from the floor in the game, adding five rebounds and eight assists to his stat line.
Tanner Mans added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Max Alexander (16) Jeramy Shaw (14) and Deshaun English II (12) also scored in double figures. English posted a double-double by adding a game-high 10 rebounds. Tane Prictor finished with seven points and a career best six blocked shots.
UNK got a game-high 18 points from D'Aundre Samuels, while Sean Murphy posted 16 points and nine rebounds in the game.
The Gorillas improve to 8-5 overall (4-3 MIAA) with the victory, while the Lopers (5-9, 2-7 MIAA) dropped their fourth straight game.
Pitt State will return to MIAA action Saturday (Jan. 13) by hosting Fort Hays State University at 3:30 p.m. (CST). The Tigers rolled to an 85-67 road decision over Missouri Southern State University Thursday.
