EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Emporia State University men's basketball team posted a 71-60 victory over Pittsburg State University Wednesday (Jan. 17) at William L. White Auditorium.
The Hornets (12-6, 5-5 MIAA) halted a three-game losing streak with their victory over the Gorillas (9-6, 5-4 MIAA), who lost for the first time in three games.
Max Alexander scored a team-leading 16 points to pace the Pitt State squad. Deshaun English II recorded his third straight double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Jeramy Shaw chipped in with 11 points
ESU's Solomon Oraegbu led all scorers with 21 points. Alijah Comithier and Owen Long finished with 13 points apiece.
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Jan. 20) when the Gorillas battle MIAA rival Washburn University at Topeka at 3 p.m. (CST).
