PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team will host MIAA rival Newman University Friday (Oct. 18).
Game time is set for 2 p.m. (CDT) at the Gorilla Soccer Pitch. Pregame activities will include a ribbon cutting and field dedication ceremony.
Pitt State has compiled a 5-5-2 overall record (1-3-2 MIAA) through 12 matches this season. Last week, the Gorillas claimed a 1-0 road win over Emporia State and a 3-0 road loss to No. 22 Washburn.

Wes Branstetter's squad has been spearheaded by graduate forward
McKenna Robinson (Butler, Pa.). Robinson, who currently is tied for seventh in NCAA Division II for assists with seven so far.

Freshman goalkeeper
Jocelyn Kramar (Fort Collins, Colo.) has a 1.54 goals against average (GAA) with 38 saves in 818 minutes stationed between the sticks. Freshmen goalkeeper
Sabrina Schilt (Plano, Texas) has a 1.38 GAA with s9x saves to her name in 196 minutes on the field thus far. Junior
Macy Clements (Springville, Utah) is yet to allow a goal and has recorded two saves in 65 minutes of game action.
Newman is 0-11-1 overall (0-6-0 MIAA) heading into the weekend. The Jets are coming off a 2-1 loss at Fort Hays State Sunday (Oct. 13). Newman is 0-7-0 on the road this season.
Offensively, NU is led by goal scorers Marta Aranda, Lexi Bauer, Maylani Birckbichler, Katrina Kowitz, Makenzie Shay and Delphine Sosu. Providing two assists this season for the Jets are Naalia Gonzalez, Allison Hernandez and Kinsey Logan.
In goal, Carla Apodaca has a 2.54 GAA with 62 saves in 11 starts.
