WICHITA, Kan. - The Pittsburg State University volleyball team beat the Newman University Jets in four sets Tuesday (Oct. 8) at Fugate Gymnasium to begin the week for the Gorillas.
For PSU (7-8, 2-3 MIAA) the win came after dropping the first set 27-25 and claiming the next three with set scores of 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.
Vix Vilott led the team with 12 kills and
Maliyah Johnson claimed 10 kills from 19 attacks.
Rylee Martin (14) and
Jesa Wallace (12) split the setting duties as
Ivy Fink (19) and
Josie McCroskey (12) finished with the most digs on the team.
Carly Clennan claimed five total blocks as
Maddi LaPointe and Fink each had four blocks to round out statistical leaders from the match.
Up next for the Gorillas inside the friendly confines of John Lance Arena will be the Central Missouri Jennies (6-8, 2-3 MIAA) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) and the Missouri Southern Lions (2-13, 0-5 MIAA) on Saturday with first serve at 2:00 p.m.
