JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Pittsburg State University volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision to Missouri Southern State University Friday (Nov. 15) at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
The Lions rallied from 13-9 and 14-12 deficits in the fifth and deciding set. MSSU scored the final four points of the match to claim a 17-25, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23, 16-14 victory.
Maliyah Johnson paced Pitt State (10-15, 5-10 MIAA) with 11 kills in the match.
Vix Vilott added eight kills, four service aces and 12 digs, while
Ivy Fink contributed four kills and 20 digs.
Josie McCroskey chipped in with 25 digs and
Carly Clennan added five kills and eight blocks.
MSSU (5-22, 3-12 MIAA) got a match high 26 kills from Alana Moesch. Fernanda Merancio added 11 kills.
The Gorillas will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., to close out the regular season schedule Saturday (Nov. 16) against the University of Central Missouri.
