Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gonzalez' Goal Sends Gorillas Past Lions, 1-0

PITTSBURG – The Pittsburg State University women's soccer team jumped out to a 1-0 first half lead and rode that momentum to a victory over MIAA rival Missouri Southern State University in the regular season finale Wednesday (Nov. 6).

The Gorillas completed regular season play with an 8-8-2 overall record, including a 4-6-2 mark in MIAA play. Pitt State has totaled 14 points in the conference standings (with victories earning three points each and ties garnering one point each). Pitt State now awaits the results of Nebraska-Kearney's Wednesday night match-up against Fort Hays State to see if the Gorillas qualify for the eight-team 2024 MIAA Postseason Tournament.

Redshirt sophomore midfielder Avianna Gonzalez (Papillion, Neb.) scored her second goal in as many games Wednesday with a headed effort in the box during the 35th minute. Gonzalez's goal was assisted by junior forward Adriana Delgado (Wichita, Kan.) and sophomore forward Dallie Hill (Claremore, Okla.).

Senior forward McKenna Robinson (Butler, Pa.) led the Gorillas with four shots overall and two shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Jocelyn Kramar (Fort Collins, Colo.) claimed her fourth shutout of the season with four saves between the sticks.

Missouri Southern ends its season with a 2-12-4 overall mark (1-9-2 MIAA).
