Gorillas on the Road to Face Wonder Boys Tuesday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University baseball team will travel to Russellville, Ark., Tuesday (Feb. 13) to face Arkansas Tech University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (CST) at Baswell Field.   The Gorillas will bring a 6-2 record into Tuesday's action after posting wins in three of four weekend home contests against Regis (Colo.). ATU is 2-5 on the young season after dropping all four games in a weekend series against Central Missouri.   As a team, Pitt State is hitting .296 and scoring 6.7 runs per game. The Gorillas have smacked 16 doubles and eight home runs and stolen 22 bases to date. Pitt State pitchers have a 3.84 ERA registering 60 strikeouts in 68.0 innings pitched. Defensively, the Gorillas have a .969 fielding percentage with nine errors in 292 total chances.   Junior infielder Blake Mozley leads the squad with a .471 batting average. He has a double and five RBI to his credit. Graduate infielder Dylan Kurahashi-Choo Foy is hitting .370 with four doubles, two home runs and seven RBI. Junior outfielder Josh Holmes, who earned MIAA Hitter of the Week honors last Monday (Feb. 5), is batting .333 with seven runs scored, one double, one home run and seven RBI. He's a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.   Following the ATU game Tuesday, the Gorillas will return home for a three-game non-conference series Friday and Saturday (Feb. 16-17) against Southwest Baptist.
