PITTSBURG -- Jenna Shipley scored a career best 21 points to help spark the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 72-56 victory over Emporia State University Wednesday (Feb. 28) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Shipley made nine of 11 shots as the Gorillas shot 52.8 percent overall, converting 28 of 53 attempts. Karenna Gerber added 12 points and seven rebounds in the contest, while Alba Lozano Davila (11) and Grace Pyle (10) also finished in double figures. Harper Schreiner added nine points and six assists, while Macie Mays also chipped in with nine points.
Katie Hornya paced the Lady Hornets with 16 points while Queen Ulabo added 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Gorillas improved to 21-6 overall (15-6 MIAA) with the victory, remaining in a three-way tie for third place in the MIAA standings. The Lady Hornets slid to 13-14 overall and 10-11 in MIAA play.
