WICHITA, Kan. — Jordan Frison poured in a game high 24 points and Deshaun English II posted his eighth double-double of the season to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 77-60 road win over Newman University Saturday (Feb. 3).
The Gorillas (13-8, 9-6 MIAA) posted their fourth straight win to climb into a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings with seven regular season games remaining on the schedule.
Frison made nine of 13 shots from the floor, including three 3-pointers, and dished out four assists in the victory. English added 18 points as well as game highs of 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Jeramy Shaw (16) and Max Alexander (11) also finished in double figures in the contest for the Gorillas, who shot 53.7 percent from the field in the game (29-54).
Newman (6-14, 3-12 MIAA) got a team-leading 18 points from Latik Murphy.
The Gorillas will return home to John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court next Wednesday (Feb. 7) to host the University of Central Missouri at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
